Clarissa Bañez

ABOUT

Clarissa Bañez is a Filipino visual artist based in Prague. She creates representational oil paintings that explore the themes of devotion, faith, and ritual. Approaching the studio with an analytical, science-driven mindset, she prioritizes deep material research and traditional, archival painting methods. Her earlier practice centered on still life and landscape genres to master the precise calibration of light, structure, and form. Working from a humanist perspective, her paintings investigate how modern devotion and beliefs shape a person's life, capturing the quiet tension between personal freedom and the psychological power of belief to construct its own reality.
